Directorate for Bilateral relations with European countries

The Directorate for Bilateral Relations with European Countries adopts annual work plans and reports; plans, organises, coordinates and monitors the bilateral cooperation and the relations of the Republic of North Macedonia with European countries; participates in the formulation and implementation of the established foreign-policy views of the Republic of North Macedonia; monitors, analyses and informs on the internal development and relations in European countries; provides coordination and cooperates with competent institutions and authorities of the country; provides guidelines and instructions for the representations in these countries and monitors their work; cooperates with the accredited representations of these countries in the Republic of North Macedonia; manages and organises the work of the sectors and the departments in its composition; prepares and implements staff training programme prior to being posted to the representations; evaluates the work of the organisational units and representations under its jurisdiction; performs other duties within its scope of activities.


Sector for South-East Europe

The Sector for South-East Europe prepares annual work plans and reports; performs and coordinates the activities and tasks related to the bilateral relations and cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia with Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Turkey, Romania, Moldova, Cyprus; monitors, analyses and informs on the development of bilateral relations and proposes measures and views for the their improvement; monitors, analyses and informs on the internal development and foreign policy of these countries; prepares and participates in political consultations; coordinates and cooperates with competent institutions and authorities of the country; prepares guidelines and instructions for the representations of these countries and monitors their work; organises and evaluates the work of the departments in its composition; performs other duties within its scope of activities. The Immediate Neighbourhood Department and the Broader Neighbourhood Department operate within this Sector.


Sector for Western, Northern and Central Europe

The Sector for Western, Northern and Central Europe prepares annual work plans and reports; performs and coordinates the activities and tasks related to the bilateral relations and cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland, Iceland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Andorra, Malta, San Marino, Monaco, the Holy See, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein; monitors, analyses and informs on the development of bilateral relations and proposes measures and views for their  improvement; monitors, analyses and informs on the internal development and foreign policy of these countries; prepares and participates in political consultations; coordinates and cooperates with competent institutions and authorities of the country; prepares guidelines and instructions for the representations of these countries and monitors their work; cooperates with the accredited representations of these countries in the Republic of North Macedonia; organises and evaluates the work of the departments in its composition; performs other duties within its scope of activities. The Western Europe I Department, Western Europe II Department, Northern Europe Department and the Central Europe Department operate within this Sector.
