01 July 2021

Tonight, in Ohrid, under the motto “Having good relations with your neighbours is wise, but having them as friends is a real victory!”, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani launched the new regional initiative B6, and hosted the first informal dinner of foreign ministers from the region and their representatives.

“The intention to establish an informal B6 format of meetings of ministers in charge of foreign affairs was to contribute to deepening of cooperation and relations among us in the fields of European integration and the fields of common interest. In order to benefit from the increased political dialogue between the EU and the WB, we will have to intensify our mutual coordination in key areas of common regional interest”, Osmani emphasised.

The other ministers and participants welcomed the launching of the B6 format, describing it as a useful framework for their mutual coordination. It was concluded that theywould meet informally at regular intervals – at least once a semester, striving to speak unanimously as a region opposite the EU.

Osmani initiated the launch of the informal platform for political cooperation Balkan 6 (B6) in foreign ministers format in order to deepen the cooperation and ties among the countries of the region in fields of common interest. The meeting, which is expected to grow into a forum for simpler, fast and immediate communication of ministers of foreign affairs from the region, will resemble similar forums within European countries, such as C5 or V4.
