Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani had a phone call with Ivan Korčok, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. The Slovak Head of Diplomacy extended congratulations to FM Osmani on the occasion of his appointment.
This phone call is part of the systematic and intensive diplomatic offensive that Minister Osmani is undertaking in the ambience of increased priority of the enlargement process among member states, current discussions about the negotiating framework, aimed at creating a strong political momentum for the final step forward in the European agenda of the country.
“We have a strong reason to work even harder on implementation of the reforms and successful finalization of the preparation for negotiations. Our expectations are to hold the first Intergovernmental Conference by the end of this year, because these are achievements that will change the future of the country”, Osmani emphasized.
The consistent position of Slovakia on North Macedonia was welcomed,which is manifested on every occasion in the framework of the EU and is reflected in unconditional support for opening accession negotiations as soon as possible.
The video meeting also discussed the cooperation of the two countries in NATO, the tackling of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as other issues of interest for the region and beyond.
