Today Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki met the Foreign Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Mr. Jean Asselborn. Luxembourg will preside with the Council of the European Union in the second semester next year. Minister Asselborn announced that the countries from Western Balkans will be on the agenda.

Being a small country Luxembourg has understanding and is interested to help all the countries from the Western Balkans in their progress towards the EU – stated Minister Poposki – However, the obstacle remains the same: the need of consensus in adoption of decisions within EU.

Foreign Minister Poposki also met the Foreign Minister of Senegal, Mr. Mankeur Ndiaye. The ministers discussed the forthcoming Summit of Francophonie that will be hosted by Senegal and also announced deepening of the economic and educational co-operation.

Furthermore, Minister Poposki met the Foreign Minister of Paraguay, Eladio Loizaga who welcomed the focus of South America that is visible in the opening of the Macedonian diplomatic office in Brasilia. A meeting was held with representatives of the American Jewish Committee where the interlocutors reaffirmed the traditionally excellent co-operation.

In the afternoon, Foreign Minister Poposki took participation at the informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers for the countries of Western Balkan and the European Union. The Enlargement Commissioner, Mr. Stefan Fule was present as well as Mrs. Mogerini, Foreign Minister of Italy - the country presiding with the European Union.

Foreign Minister Poposki had an address at the Climate Summit where he pointed out to the new application “Travel Green” presented last week by the city of Skopje and prepared in partnership with UNDP. The purpose of the application is to decrease the general emission of carbon dioxide within the capital.
