Today, Foreign Minister of Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Poposki, hosted Timo Rajakangas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Finland to Republic of Macedonia resident in Zagreb.

At the meeting they assessed that the good political relations between Republic of Macedonia and Republic of Finland present a base for more dynamic development of mutual cooperation, especially in the economic sphere.


Foreign Minister Poposki underlined that Republic of Macedonia especially appreciates the support and aid from Republic of Finland for sooner commencement of the accession negotiations with European Union. At the same time, MFA Poposki informed about the efforts and concrete achievements of our country in that area. MFA Poposki expressed his satisfaction with the current cooperation in the implementation of twinning projects and emphasized the interest to continue this cooperation for increase of the capacities of Macedonian administration in the process of European integration.

Ambassador Rajakangas reiterated the determination of Republic of Finland to support the enlargement process of the European Union and in that line, the strong support for sooner commencement of the accession negotiations for membership of Republic of Macedonia to the Union. This would lead to intensification of the reform processes in the country and would bring benefits to the whole region.


At the meeting, both parties discussed the current conditions in our region and worldwide.
