A meeting of the Partnership Commission of the US-Adriatic Charter was held on 13 December 2019 in Tirana at the level of foreign ministers of member states and non-member observer states of the Charter. The meeting was chaired by the acting Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Gent Cakaj.

On this occasion, the representatives of the US-Adriatic Charter member states had the opportunity to jointly review the progress of cooperation within the US-Adriatic Charter and the framework for future activities under this format, for the purpose of further contributing to the security and stability of the region.

In his address at the meeting, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Zoran Popov noted the importance of the US-Adriatic Charter, as an important platform for promoting regional cooperation and support for countries on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration. The State Secretary emphasised the need to strengthen the common, regional contribution to preserving the security and stability of the Euro-Atlantic area.

On this occasion, State Secretary Popov reaffirmed the readiness of North Macedonia, as a future NATO member state, to act as a stabilizing factor in the region by promoting Euro-Atlantic values, as well as to support the other members of the Charter in achieving their Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

At the meeting, the participants welcomed the dynamics of ratification of North Macedonia’s Accession Protol and voiced expectation that next year our country will become a full-fledged NATO member which will further boost the security and stability of the entire region.
