The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrej Zernovski, met today with an OSCE/ODIHR delegation led by the head of the Election Observation Mission to the country, Corien Jonker.

The head of the Election Observation Mission to the country, Corien Jonker, noted that the last presidential elections had an excellent administrative organization and were conducted in a democratic and fair atmosphere.

In this regard, Jonker referred to the changing climate stemming from the firm commitment of the Government, as well as all the institutions involved in the electoral process, to create an atmosphere of fair and transparent elections.

At the meeting, Deputy FM Zernovski stressed that their recommendations serve as a true guidepost for further improvement of the electoral framework. In that context it was emphasized that the Government is determined to continue to actively cooperate with ODIHR and to implement the recommendations regarding the election processes.

Finally, it was mutually ascertained that the reform processes are transforming and consolidating the Macedonian society based on rule of law, human rights and democratic principles.

Such a report greatly contributes to the positive image of our country ahead of the Council of the EU in October, when we expect valorization of the achievements.
