Political consultations were held in Skopje between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey, led by the State Secretary Viktor Dimovski and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faruk Kaymakcı, respectively.



The consultations tackled opportunities for advancing the bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest. Interlocutors said that relations between the two countries are carried out in the spirit of traditional friendship and partnership and through dynamic cooperation.

State Secretary Dimovski thanked for Turkey’s consistent support of our country’s strategic goal – membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Interlocutors agreed that North Macedonia should become a full-fledged member of NATO by the year’s end.


On Turkey’s part, it was confirmed that the Protocol will soon be ratified by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kaymakcı, also held a protocol meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrej Zernovski.


The meeting reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the mutual commitment to strengthen cooperation in terms of defense, economy, culture and education as well as other areas of interest of the two friendly countries.

Deputy FM Zernovski conveyed gratitude for the strong support of the Republic of Turkey for North Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
