The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov today met with US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, who is paying a working visit to the Republic of Macedonia. The meeting reaffirmed the partner relations between the two countries and the further strong support of the US for the Euro-Atlantic perspectives of the Republic of Macedonia.

MFA Dimitrov discussed the current, final phase of the process of implementation of the Prespa Agreement and the challenges on that path, emphasising that "its successful implementation will confirm Macedonia's determination to be a stable and reliable partner that can deal with challenges independently". He added that in addition to the constructive approach of the neighbours, the Republic of Macedonia in the past period has put significant efforts into becoming a true European democracy through reforms for building accountable institutions, free media and the rule of law.

Deputy Secretary of State Sullivan stressed that the aim of his visit is to reaffirm American support on the historic path of Macedonia's integration in the EU and NATO. He welcomed the courage and determination in resolving the name dispute with Greece, as well as the constructive approach in the relations with all neighbours, expressing assurance that the Republic of Macedonia will soon deservedly become the next new NATO member state.
