Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia hosted the third meeting of the Joint Steering Committee on the Partnership for Sustainable Development: UN Strategy 2016-2020. This document encompasses the collective contribution of the UN system to the realisation of national development priorities.

At the Committee meeting, which was co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Macedonia Louisa Vinton, discussions were held on the activities carried out in 2017 and 2018 and plans for 2019 and 2020 in the five priority areas of employment, good governance, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and gender equality. Mila Carovska, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, and Ana Petrovska, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, actively participated in the discussions on how to best utilise and direct the support that the Republic of Macedonia is receiving from the UN system and the team of the UN in the realisation of our development priorities. The members of the Committee also addressed the connection of these activities with the process of European integration and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also had a farewell meeting with Louisa Vinton, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Macedonia. At the meeting, he thanked Resident Coordinator Vinton for the contribution and support that she provided during her term in the country.
