The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, met today in Sofia, as part of his working visit to the Republic of Macedonia with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, the President of the Government, Bojko Borisov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ekaterina Zaharieva.

The foreign ministers of the two countries, Dimitrov and Zaharieva, in the presence of Prime Minister Borisov, exchanged the ratification documents concerning the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation and signed the exchange Protocol which means the Treaty has officially entered into force. The ministers and the Prime Minister underlined the importance of the Agreement as an incentive to further solidify the relations and cooperation between the two countries but also as a good example for the promotion of good-neighbourly relations among the countries of the region.

Bilateral talks focused on issues of mutual interest for the two countries aimed towards advancing the overall cooperation after the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation enters into force with emphasis on the economy, energy and infrastructure.

It was ascertained during all meetings that the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria share common European values, ideals and principles. Readiness was also voiced for specific support concerning the Euro-Atlantic processes which will enable the realisation of the long-term strategic priorities of the Republic of Macedonia.
