Today, on 3 December 2014, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Macedonia to the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Vasilka Poposka Trenevska presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Heinz Fisher at the ceremony held at Hofburg Imperial Palace.

On this occasion, Ambassador Dr. Poposka-Trenevska passed on greetings on behalf of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov to the President of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Heinz Fischer and expressed gratitude to Austria for the support this country extends to the Republic of Macedonia. During the meeting, both interlocutors underlined the excellent bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Austria as well as the great possibilities to deepen this cooperation, especially in the area of economy.

The President of the Republic of Austria, H.E. Dr. Heinz Fischer showed interest for the interior-political developments in Macedonia, as well as the Macedonian stance on solving the differences around the country’s name with our Southern neighbour. President Dr. Fischer expressed hope that this dispute will be resolved in the near future.

The official ceremony ended in the outer part of Hofburg palace where the honour guard was lined up while the military orchestra played the national anthems of Macedonia and Austria.
