MFA POSITION ON ICJ ADVISORY OPINION
Skopje, 23 July 2010 year

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs followed with particular attention the adoption of the decision of the International Court of Justice of July 22, 2010 regarding the requested advisory opinion of the Court on the legality of the declaration of independence of Kosovo, deeming it as an important decision adopted by a relevant international body, bearing a specific international legal relevance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs finds that the decision of the International Court of Justice validates the international legal credibility of the policy of the Republic of Macedonia in respect of the recognition of the independence of Kosovo.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that this opinion of the International Court of Justice provides a solid basis and a strong impetus to the promotion of good-neighbourly relations and regional cooperation, as well as to the opening of a new chapter in the building of mutual trust between the countries in the region.
