Minister Poposki Sends Letter of Appreciation to Czech Colleague Schwarzenberg Welcoming Czech Republic’s Decision to Recognize Macedonia’s Constitutional Name
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Poposki, has sent a letter today to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Karel Schwarzenberg, welcoming the latest decision of the Czech Republic under which the thus-far established practice of addressing the Republic of Macedonia under its constitutional name in the bilateral communication is being reaffirmed and made official.
In his letter, Minister Poposki has underlined that the Republic of Macedonia highly appreciates the principled position of the Czech Republic towards this issue, as well as the open and vocal support it has been affording the Republic of Macedonia ever since its independence. Moreover, Minister Poposki has particularly welcomed the Czech support for Macedonia within the European Union, where the country acts as a vocal advocate and staunch supporter of starting accession negotiations with the Republic of Macedonia as soon as possible.
This latest decision of the Czech authorities provides yet another evidence of the exceptionally positive bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Czech Republic, being, at the same time, a unique friendly gesture aimed at strengthening the existing relations of mutual trust and friendship between the two countries even further.
